Hi, I've been a visitor of this site for at least a year. I really like this site, it has tons of info for chin owners to be. The reason I'm posting this is a couple of days ago, one of my baby chins broke his leg. I'm not sure exactly how though. It ended up his leg had to be amputated. I was wondering if anyone else has a three-legged chin? If so has it lived happily with three legs?

About 3 months ago I got a Chinchilla from a friend at work. Comet wasn't properly taken care of. His hair was gone and he was said to be "shy towards people" he is 5 years old and from what I see he is very friendly towards me and he has ALL his hair back! I love my Chinchilla and recently I have been working on handling him.

I forgot to ask about getting a second chinnie. My chinchilla is four months old and I've heard that they can get very lonely. How hard is it to bring in a second pet after you have had the first for awhile? I don't want a male (mine is a girl) because I don't want to breed at the moment. How well do two females get along? Does it depend on the personalities? Should I take my chinnie to the pet store with me or should I just buy one and hope they get along? Thank you for your time in answering this message.
I've had my chinchilla, Daisy, for about 2 weeks now and I LOVE her! She is the most adorable pet I have ever had. And funny! I love to watch her bouncing around and ricocheting off the walls. Daisy loves to be rubbed under her chin and around her ears.
Sometimes she will curl up in my arms and go to sleep or stretch out on my arm and put her head on my hand and sleep that way. And she isn't smelly and dirty like the hamster I had! That may be one of the things I like most about chinnies-they don't stink!! Thank you for your great page. I came here many times before I got Daisy and it was a great help. Take care

Please I need some help! My chin has outgrown his wheel so I had to remove it. Since removing he has started chewing his fur but stops as soon as the wheel is returned. I am now looking for a 15" wheel and can find one nowhere! I am going to be sacrificing his fur or his back either way in the situation I am in now. I have a spoiled Chinchilla named shaft. He is a very lovable pet. The first couple months when i let him on the floor he would not come to me and always run for me. Now he's 2 year's old and he's awesome. He comes when I call, and he also visits me when he's on the floor too. For my boyfriend it's a diffrent story. I think i'm Shaft's best friend. I got him a huge cage last week (4 stories). He loves it and I love him. He's always looking forward to new presents.

I like the pictures of the chinchillas on this page. I had 6 chins but my mom made me sell two of them. One of them loved to fall asleep in your arms with his paws hanging over your arms. The father's name is Snuggles and the mother's name is Princess.

Unfortunatly,we had her mate Carlos neutered after the birth as Tjejen aready has a 6 month old called hoppsan and he never properly
recovered from the operation and sadly passed away.in addition to the above,our roll call of rodents consist of Velvet,Taz,Holly,Fleur

or "hazza" we got him from a local pet shop after "petsmart" aided the death of a lovely white female ....
he is a baige,hes 1 year old, and the biggest bugger in the world....
he never stoppes tugging at our clothes.. and most of the time if we arnt giving him all the attention he will sit and watch t.v with us..but i have noticed that he runs into his house on the scary bits,then creeps back out as if we didnt notice....he does like westerns........
i didnt like the memorial bit as it made me think to much and got me all sad.....

I love my chins... I started out owning degus and found that I coudl handle them so I moved up to Chinchillas (I still own the two degus also). I have four chins total. Couple 1 is Nibbles/silver male and his partner Fluffy/silver female. Couple 2 is Sinatra/homobeige male w/ freckled ears and his partner Scarlete/black velvet female. Each couple has its own cage.. I rotate them each month to the other cage since one is a three level and fits the exercise wheel and the other is a two level only. The two males don't get along so I don't let them exist in the cages together. I let them all play together in the bathroom w/ my daughter and I but the silver male is too agressive towards my homobeige male and I don't want him getting hurt from the chasing and bitting.
They are all mating and I estimate we should have kits in July sometime if all goes well. I don't know much about what colors we will have.. other than I imagine my silver pair will produce silver and well the homobeige and black velvet who knows. I plan on selling the babies after they are 10 weeks old or so.
I am very new to this and would love advice and support from any of you. I want to keep my chins happy and healhty and help them to have healthy kits.

I've had chinchilla's since about 1994. I've lost 8 of them to a disease. All I have left ae 2 grays and 2 blacks. They ae very interesting animals. The only thing is that tey get sick to easily. But I love them even the ones I've lost.

We just got our little baby, Chalupa, and are very happy. She is gray. Your site is a big asset in learning about chinchillas.
We love the furry little creatures. Right now we have 5. The newest came from a neglected (read abused?) home. He is getting along much better now. Our oldest was one of our first litter and is now 10 years old. They provide great relaxation for us and an opportunity to watch them play ends each day for us.

Charmander was a gift from my husband for my 20th birthday. Charmander is so cute. He has a 95 gallon aquarium and also a red tent which fits perfectly in the aquarium. Charmander enjoys hiding inside his tent. I think a chinchila is the best animal one can own.

My chinchilla will chew anything so I just want to share my chin experience with some chin owners so they don't make the same mistake as me- My chin chew lots of the wires for my computer (luckily the low voltage wires) I only discovered this after my computer wouldn't work! I had to replace my hard drive and buy a new keyboard, mouse and speakers! It was an expensive experience but not one I will forget. If anybody has any ideas of interesting things for my chin to chew on and play with other than wood etc please Email me!

I work at a pet shop, where I fell in love with a 6 month old previously owned female chinchilla. I purchased her recently and now
she is living in my home. She seems to enjoy running free, and will come when she is called (if offered a raisin). She doesn't enjoy
handling, however. I wonder if this is typical chinchilla behavior. I would also like to know if fresh vegetables are good for chins. I know
that they are usually fed hay and pellet diets, but my Osa seems to enjoy fresh foods as well. Does anyone have tips on how to get your
chinchilla to warm up to you? I guess that's all I wanted to know. I realize that this is NOT a forum, but I can't seem to find one anywhere
on the net.

We love chinchillas. They make great pets. Unfortunately one of ours(Bernard) was ill recently. However, we found a great vet who managed to sort out a problem with Bernards teeth. he is slowly improving and into everything-again! Our other chinchilla is called Oscar.

I regret to say, I dont yet have a chinchilla :(. I just learned about chins last year, before then I had no clue what they were. My mom says that they aren't hugable or cute and I'm only fourteen so I'm still in her house. However, my dad loves chins and used to raise them. Hello! I´m a seventeen year old girl and i live in Sweden. I was just searching the net when i came up with the idea to search for chinchilla pages.And what a great one i found! I have a chinchilla myself, he is called Molle and he turned 8 years old on the ninth of January. He is very social and comes running when I call him. I have had him since he was only ten weeks old. My mother gave him to me when i turned ten. She bought him from a breeder, so he ought to be happy we got him before he became a fur. I just wanted to wright you and if you want to, you can e-mail me back. Chinchillas rules!

Just got a Chin for Christmas, and am looking for care and feeding tips from someone who knows what they like, dislike. Named Pepe', just a baby, about six months old, runt of the litter, and he is so cute. Don't know much about them, but he is really friendly, and cuddly. Got him a large tank, and a three story condo (wooden). got water bottle, and food, but other than that, i don't know much about Chin's. Appreciate any help you can give. Have a great day! I too am very interested in chinchillas, having 19 myself. Unfortunately breeding has spiralled out of control as I now have 5 males in a big glass tank with 14 females ( I think!) with 2 rabbits. The big females are sometimes vicious and tear smaller ones to pieces.
I suggest keeping sexes apart unless you can afford neutering.

I love Chins! One of my teachers has one and he is so adorable!! So me and 2 of my best friends are going to get one. Her name is
Nut Megg, she is 6 months old. (She was born in June!) She has a twin brother named Caffien but we can't have him. :( But my teacher might sell hers to us. We don't think that she takes good enough care of him. 3 of his toes are swollen and red. She dosen't do anything about it but we can't make her because she is our teacher. I don't think that he has had a dust bath in a month! And he dosen't
get the right food. He only gets nuts and she always gives him fruit. He hasn't had hat sense she bought him and he dosen't have any wood or bark. And his cage hasn't been cleaned out sence the begining of the school year, and he dosen't have a box or anything to sleep in accept the cage. She does that so her students can see him!! She is a good teacher but I don't think that she should have a Chin!!

I am a mourning chinchilla owner. I had my little guy for about three months and then he became ill for a few days and i found him dead in his cage. I am having a very difficult time with this, this was last week. I don't know why he died but my cats and i loved him very much and he sure never lacked TLC. The text is in Norwegian (I'm translate the pages to english, but it takes it time), so I dont think you will understand much of it, but it has become the Unofficial Norwegian Chinchilla Page. Very informative, onlinelist for online chinowners in scandinavia ( http://home.sol.no/~thanstve/chinring.html ), weekly upgrades, personal pictures and stories of mine and others chinchilllas and links to all Scandinavian (Nortern Europe) chin-pages.

I have little male chin called kenny and is coming up 1 iwould like to breed chins but it sounds really hard?
My new and first chinchilla is 8 1/2 weeks old now.
I still need to learn how to potty train her and what the different sounds mean.
I have found a lot off information on chins. I bought my first chin a few days ago and I have still a lot to learn about them.
